Supported Employment

Living independently is one of the most pressing challenges faced by young adults with Down syndrome and other disabilities as they graduate and transition from school into society. The Down Syndrome Foundation R.O.C. offers various employment services tailored to the abilities of individuals. For those with stronger capabilities, job coaches assist in matching them to positions in mainstream workplaces, providing opportunities to work alongside the general population in an inclusive environment.

Supported employment offers vocational rehabilitation services to individuals with Down syndrome and disabilities who are willing to work. Through one-on-one guidance, the program helps them achieve workplace independence and stability. Job coaches develop suitable employment opportunities, accompany individuals to interviews, provide on-site guidance, assist with workplace integration, and address challenges encountered on the job. The program includes job evaluations, basic life skills training, the development of appropriate job opportunities, vocational rehabilitation planning, employment service planning, and job redesign strategies. These efforts ensure that individuals are placed in roles that align with their abilities while receiving the emotional support necessary to promote long-term employment stability.
