About Down Syndrome Caring Association R.O.C

In Taiwan, approximately one in every 1,263 newborns is born with Down syndrome. To address the needs of individuals with Down syndrome and alleviate the challenges faced by primary caregivers, a group of parents of children with Down syndrome initiated a platform for communication and mutual support. In 1988, this parent support group formally established the Down Syndrome Caring Association R.O.C with approval from the Ministry of the Interior. The Association aims to foster a society that embraces individuals with Down syndrome with an open heart. Under the shelter of this collective, Down syndrome families can walk hand in hand toward a brighter, more inclusive future.

Mission Statement

The Down Syndrome Caring Association R.O.C brings together families of individuals with Down syndrome, scholars, experts, and concerned individuals and organizations to promote professional research, execution, and consultation in areas such as medical care, nursing, health, early intervention, and vocational training. It strives to secure lifelong rights and benefits for individuals with Down syndrome, advocating for their comprehensive care and support. Additionally, the Association actively promotes preventive education to reduce societal burdens and serve the community more effectively.
