To address the diverse needs of adults with disabilities, particularly the challenges they face after leaving the education system, the Down Syndrome Foundation R.O.C. provides a variety of daytime care services tailored to their abilities. The "Community Daytime Workshop for Individuals with Disabilities" is centered around work-based activities complemented by recreational and leisure services. Named "Born to Shine," the workshop reflects our belief that every individual with disabilities has unique talents and strengths. Our goal is to help participants learn self-reliance, prepare for potential future employment, and develop essential skills for independent living.
Through consistent work activities, the program cultivates positive work attitudes and skills, enhancing participants’ ability to live independently. By leveraging resource connections, purposeful activity designs, and individualized service plans, the program creates vibrant and engaging leisure opportunities that improve quality of life and encourage social participation. Morning meetings and weekly self-advocacy sessions provide ongoing training for participants to learn decision-making and accountability. Additionally, the "Tang Tang Store" reward system motivates participants to exhibit positive behavior, guiding them toward the goal of independent living.
Service Recipients: Youth with disabilities aged 15 and older who can engage in work activities for 4 hours daily and 20 hours per week. Each workshop accommodates up to 20 participants.
Work Activities: The primary tasks involve handmade soap production and cookie baking, supplemented by contract-based work assignments.
